A rare H. Williamson Ltd of London Mark IVA RFC 8 day cockpit watch marked with serial number 5280AC. Being a Mk IVA suggests manufacture for the Royal Flying Corps in the period approx 1914-1917. Black non-luminous dial with subsidiary second dial, movement not obviously marked with a maker's name (but does have a serial number). all in good working order. (Keeps quite good time actually!) Case presentable with some wear and minor lifting of nickel coating as photographs and surface abrasion to the glass- original, unmessed with condition consistent with being almost a century old. Back of case marked with War Department A mark (aviation issue) and Broad Arrow (military issue). Has pendant for use with leather strap or hard rubber mounts screwed to a dashboard or an instrument panel. Back hinged with hinged dust cover. Hands appear to have had paint (originally luminous?) applied at one time but this looks like it might be easily removed by those who know what they're doing. A nice item which I have treasured for its tangible link with history but with which I am parting as I am reducing my militaria collection prior to down sizing.Posted with eBay Mobile
