OK, goes... Up for bids are the most incredible pair of STORY TRENCH ART VASES I have ever seen...Let along the priviledge I have ever had to own...I may be going on a bit, but bear with me..I have owned these for over 20 years. I just redisovered these in our storage. They are a PAIR of 50 Calibur SHELLS.Each measuring 23" tall X 3" at the top. They are dated 1905 & 1906 respectively. The depiction is the transformation of a young ingenue from New York to a Dough Girl..and on to a sofisticated lady with all kinds of symbolism along the way. This is my take ...Shell #1 shows her in a "MOLLY PRITCHER" style dress.Standing next to a BULL DOG,which originally in my mind represented the British EMPIRE.I did show this to a police officer friend who thought this might be representative of The MARINE CORPS.Also, t is a butterfly which I believe represents France. She then becomes the WW1 DOUGH GIRL complete with canteen and heels.Shell #2 shows our Doughgirl shows our dough girl now sophiticated upon her return to New Yorkstanding bare foot next to a lamp post. They are painted with gold paint over the brass.I love these and I hope I've done justice to them with my description. We will have these to you before Christmas.Offered @ $9.99 and NO RESERVE.Please check my other auctions for more great finds from the same estate. Of course, I'll combine read more
