NO RESERVE SO BID TO BUY! AN ORIGINAL PERIOD INSIGNIA AND NOT A MODERN COPY. WW1 United States Army patch for the 91st Infantry Division. All wool felt construction with finishing stitches across the patch to give differentiation to the patch. Unlike all of the other patches on the blanket, this finishing touch was done after sewing the patch to the blanket as the stitches go through to the reverse of the green backing, so it could not be removed from the backing without losing that detail. The green measures approximately 5 inches by 5 1/4 inches. The patch itself measures approximately 1 3/4 inches across. Shows heavy wear, some fading and minor soiling. This was removed by me personally from a patch blanket that was put together at the end of WW1 by an American coat manufacturer in Kentucky with a contract to produce patches for the government. Purchased by me from a non-collector source (the grandson of the company owner) and never on the collector market before. Guaranteed original and of the period and not a collector copy. I have included a partial scan of the patch blanket (not included in the auction, obviously); the blanket could not be maintained intact because of damage to a portion and because the interconnecting threads were disintegrating.
