This is a very RARE WW2 pinback DI (distinctive insignia). It measures 1 3/8" by 7/8". It was made by Arthur Berstrand, Paris, and is so marked on the back. It was worn by the 1051st Engineer Group. They constructed and repaired ports in Europe by constructing the docks and removing sunken ships in the European ports while the war was still going on in Germany. For example, they worked at the port of Leghorn on the western coast of Italy. This DI is original and in very good to excellent condition. I obtained a few of these from the veteran who wore them, along with other items.
