Named for the Trinity Bomb testing in New Mexico on July 16, 1945, Trinitite samples are scarce ..; perfectly safe..All but small pieces of the material were buried These specimens were collected from the Trinity site before the Trinitite ban. Closed for many years, the Trinity site is currently opened to the public by the National Park Service twice a year.
