A 315th Fighter Squadron PatchWW2 era5.1/2 inches highFrom the Estate of Roy MeekerIn 1942, Roy received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps as a pilot. Roy served during WWII in Europe flying 55 combat missions in P-47's receiving the Distinguished Fly Cross and Air Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters. Roy made the United States Air Force as his career and subsequent duties took him to Alaska, Japan, South East Asia, Hawaii, Saudi Arabia, and numerous stateside assignments as a Fighter Squadron Commander and a Major Headquarters Staff Officer. Roy flew the P-80, F-94, F-86, and F-102. Roy retired from the USAF after 30 years. He achieved the rank of Colonel and Command Pilot and was awarded the Legion of Merit.
