WW2 British Army Officers Captain Service Dress REME Capt. J. Leonard This service dress tunic was owned by Captain Jonas Leonard who served as an officer in the Second World War. He was a regular soldier in the army until his completion at 122nd O.C.T.U (Officer Cadet Training Unit) on the 29th January 1941 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Army Ordinance Corps. Major changes took place in the corps, leading to his unit being absorbed into the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1942. In 1943 he was made a war substantive Lieutenant and later a war substantive Captain. His medals earned during the war were 1938-45 Star, Burma Star, the Defence Medal, the 1939-45 War Medal and in 1943 a Territorial Efficiency Medal (Given for 12 years of service) in which he was given his 1st clasp in 1949 (a clasp given for every six years of service). The service dress tunic is in very good clean condition, and complete with a waist belt, correct WW2 period R.E.M.E buttons and collar dogs, and captain pips to either shoulder epaulette. The inside pocket has a tailors label which reads: Custance & Sons Ladies and Gents Tailors Breeches Makers 1, New Conduit Street King's Lynn and dated 5.3.41 (5th March 1941) and named to Lt J.Leonard The approximate measurements of the tunic are: Chest - 39 inches Top of Collar to Hem - 33.5 inches read more
