Genuine, authentic, original hand signed print photograph of Elite Waffen Panzergrenadier Obersturmbannfuhrer Hans Traupe. Traupe was a highly decorated Elite German tank soldier and commander during WW2. Traupe originally joined the German Army in 1934 but in 1936 transferred to the new Elite Waffen troops, graduated from Bad Tolz, and became an officer teaching the Schutzpolizei. During WW2, he was attached to the 4th Polizei Division in the Battle of France, and from 1942 starting with Operation Barbarossa on to 1944, he commanded Polizei troops in battling the Communist Russians, especially in the Battle of Leningrad. Ultimately, Traupe was given command of the 4th Polizeigrenadier Division, 22nd Panzergrenadier Regiment and the 10th Panzer Division Frundsberg. Because of his personal bravery, he was awarded the German Cross in Gold, and later, because of his extreme personal bravery and successful military leadership in combat, the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. The black and white photographic print on white paper which measures: 4 x 5.5 inches, shows Traupe in his Waffen SS officers uniform, and he has signed his name to the right of the image in dark purple fountain pen ink.
