Genuine, authentic, original hand signed photograph of Heer Generalmajor Otto Ernst Remer. Remer was a highly decorated Germany Army field infantry commander. Remer is best known for stopping the July 20 1944 Assassination Plot Attempt on Adolf Hitler. On July 20, 1944, Remer was in command of the famous Grossdeutschland Infantry Regiment headquartered in Berlin, and was ordered by Generalleutnant Paul von Hase to arrest Reichs Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels. When Remer confronted Goebbels to arrest him, Goebbels insisted that the Fuhrer was alive and that Remer should talk to him directly. After listening to Hitler, Remer was convinced it was the Fuhrer, and was ordered instead to arrest von Hase and the other conspirators...which Remer did and was immediately promoted 2 grades from Major to full Colonel! Remer later went on to successful field command in the East, the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes Offensive), and the Defense of the Reich. Because of his personal bravery, he was awarded the German Cross in Gold. And because of his extreme personal bravery and successful military leadership in combat, he was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oakleaves, one of only 890 soldiers to receive this high honor during the War.
