Second World War New Zealand Army Second Expeditionary Force "2NZEF" General Service Cap made in Scotland by A & J Gelfer of Glasgow DATED 1944 and bears British Government Contract and issue Broad Arrow stamp in makers label and ANOTHER Broad Arrow in a later-applied (Post manufacture) "W Broad Arrow D" stamp (Where "WD" stands for WAR DEPARTMENT) Bears the "BLACK DIAMOND" that was adopted during WW2 for wear by the New Zealand 2nd NZEF as a backer for their "generic" WW2 design "ONWARD" badge worn by all Kiwi ANZACS that served oversea in WW2 (NOT WORN after WW2 except by the J-Force serving in Japan until 1947, and by New Zealand Army OFFICER CADETS even post-1954 SIZE = Marked UK size 6 7/8 = USA size 7 or Metric size 56 = Very SMALL CONDITION = Absolutely SUPERB and about as "MINT" as a campaign worn cap of this AGE (66 years !!) could possibly be....ALSO this is the VERY LAST that I have in stock and God alone knows where I will be able to find another VERY HARD TO FIND NOW The DIFFERENCE between a BERET and a General Service Cap is often not clearly understood.........so here it is :-) A Beret is made from a single piece of wool and is an EARNED RIGHT to wear.
