OK, I'm 58 and as long as I can remember my father had these from WW2. When I was a kid he called them "tanker" field glasses and nievely I simply thought they were WW2 US Army armor binoculars and that he had picked them up during his WW2 service. A few years before he passed away I found them again laying around the house and started to look at them closer. Further questions to dad revealed he had bought them shortly after the war in an "junk" shop in Santa Ana, California for deer hunting. Initially I thought the maker code was for Bausch & Lomb Company since it consisted only of the letters blc and the typical 7x50 optical measurement. In trying to get more info via the Internet I discovered they were WW2 German military optics and the maker - Carl Zeiss (blc code) typically made these for U-Boot use. They do have very heavy rubber shock absorbing pieces of the large ends, and as kid I remember folding or hinged rubber eye pieces (now gone). Anyway, they are fantastic examples and in wonderful operational condition. The purple tinted optics I think even help with low light viewing. I think they are gas filled by the fittings near the eye pieces, but I am not an expert on these things so please look over the photos. Have got to be scarce, and sure beat hell out the the common WW2 USN 7X50 binoculars. I'll be listing a lot more
