WW2 Important Shipwreck MEDINA CARGO Indian Brass Vases Description: WW2 Important Shipwreck MEDINA CARGO 2 Indian Brass Vases - from Lord Carmichael's extensive Oriental Art Collection From Sotheby's auction in 1988. These two vases are artefacts recovered from the famous shipwreck SS. Medina, sometimes referred to as the RMS. Medina. They are very attractive, quality decorative objects, and have acquired a lovely dark, black patina from being submerged in the sea for 70 years. In this lot there is : 1. Tall brass engraved vase, which is complete with the Sotheby's auction label (SOTHEBYS MEDINA CARGO). This elegant tall vase is covered in intricate, elaborate engraving... It has a dark, black patina, with flashes of yellow brass showing through, with some green verdigris showing inside the rim and mouth. It is in very good condition, with a slight dent to base foot, which is very slightly out of round, but the vase stands straight and displays perfectly. Since this is a shipwrecked object, it only adds to the character and history of it. MEASUREMENTS: 16.5cm, 6 1/2" tall 5cm, 2" across base approximately 2.8cm, 1 1/8" across mouth 2.
