An original World War Two letter including the envelope written by female pilot Kate Lee Harris. The letter is dated October 18, 1943. At the top of the letter there is a logo with her name and there is a woman with wings and it mentions Avenger Field Sweetwater, Texas. In the letter she mentions the Avengerette Club. I currently have other letters written by this individual listed. The letter reads: Doug Darling Received your letter of the 7th on Saturday............I now have 42 hours so am due to an Army checkride any minute alas! I understand the Army is more concerned with safe flying than proficiency in our maneuvers and when I'm up in the air my little neck comes first so maybe I can pass it.........So many good girls have washed out of here already that we have come to the conclusion that if we get through it will be sheer luck! I am about the only one in our flight who is up to date on solo & duel time so far..............There isn't much to do in Sweetwater except go to the Avengerette Club. It's a very "exclusive" club as only Avenger Field girls & their friends can go there.
