Dug out in Kurland Dug out between German and Russian trenches among craters, found without soldier. In this place Russians attacked Germans and started close combat in trenches and around, but Germans repulsed them. Before attack they had artillery support. Seems that this helmet suffered from this artillery strike, hit so hard that it was ripped in two parts. Great, legendary item for any WW2 collector. The Germans launched some counterattacks in the morning hours of the 22 December to release this pressure on the HKL but all of these saw only limited succes because Russian Artillery, tanks and ground support aircraft prevented in many cases that the Germans could even leave their trenches. 3rd read more
