After Parliament was bombed by the Luftwaffe in 1941 the damaged stone, lead and pewter (from the roof and guttering) and wood was salvaged by The Ministry of Works to be sold for charitable purposes (The Red Cross). This stone jar was created from the ruins of parliament. It has a lead/pewter seal on the side and has a circular oak lid with a lead/pewter seal to the centre. The jar has it's original white ceramic liner.Grab yourself a piece of history and a fantastic talking point. The jar is very heavy (approx. 6Kg) so collection is advised to avoid pricy postage costs. I have said £20.00 for postage but this is a guess. It goes without saying that if it is less you will pay less - I do not make money on postage. Please have a look at my other items..
