This auction is for one World War II US Navy MK23 MOD1 Practice Bomb. This item is totally inert and is solid cast iron. This is the type of practice bomb that was either hand-dropped or dropped from a bomb rack for the purposes of training pilots in bombing procedures. The center of the item is hollow and was used for smoke streamers for marking purposes during training. This item cannot be rendered as an active explosive. This item would make an excellent addition to your WW2 USN aviation gear collection, or would be great for the re-enactor.
