WWI German Soldiers Photo Album Mackensen, Hindenberg This fascinating photo album is titled: Weltkrieg 1914/18 Bilder aus Makedonien or in English: World War 1914/18 Pictures from Macedonia. The German soldier who put the album together, Max Perl, was stationed in the area that is now the Republic of Macedonia and Turkey. The album consists of more then 150 excellent quality photos. Most of the shots are of the local towns, people and landscapes but t are also a good number of military related photos. Perhaps most interesting from a military history viewpoint are snapshots of General August Von Mackensen (wearing his trademark Death's head headgear) and a series of shots of General Paul Von Hindenburg attending what appears to be an Easter religious service on a parade ground. T also several snapshots of a troop train, prisoners of war, soldiers at their leisure and a large shot of Montfaucon in ruins. The front cover of the album has a tear about 2/3 of the way through and the binding has come apart, however the photos are in excellent condition. Great home made cover art helps makes this album an excellent addition to any WW1 collection. Another auction from just_whistle
