WWI Lee-Enfield British Pattern 1907 Mk1, SMLE Bayonet with Leather Scabbard -Description : Up for bid -- You are viewing an original Lee Enfield rifle bayonet. These bayonets were manufactured to fit the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No.1 series Infantry Rifles used during WWI and WWII. It has a fullered blade on both sides and has a single edge. The blade maintains its original factory edge. The length of the blade is approximately 17 1/16" and the total length of the bayonet is approximately 22". It has a very clean set of wooden grips with two blued steel screws and an oil-hole in the pommel. The pommel is in the bird's head style with a push button and spring latch which are in complete working order. T are numerous British ordnance proof and inspector markings on both sides of the ricasso. Blade markings on one side show GR under Crown, 1907, 8 17, SANDERSON (see photo). I will leave this up to the advanced collector to interpret these markings. It has the standard steel cross-guard with muzzle ring which measures 17mm inside diameter. The scabbard is steel-mounted (throat and drag only) black leather body, with a single round - or oval - frog stud. The leather scabbard is firm but not brittle and has markings stamped throughout. The bayonet and scabbard are in excellent to fine condition. Please view the photos for further details. read more
