This is a rare WWI French Fourragere in miniature form. It is about 2" wide and finely and intricately made and braided. I have seen these worn on the uniform breast pocket or worn at the top of the Victory Medal. Back in the old days, George Studley sold these in his "REGULATION WAR MEDALS" catalogs for $1.00 each, listing them as a "Miniature Fouraguerre." Any of the five or six I have had in attributed groups have belonged to WWI Marines, but I suppose that the 2nd Division soldiers would have used the, too, as they also earned the unit Fourragere. ******* NOTE: I ran this last week and a bidder with the user name "yankee_stud" won this and four other lots and claimed that he didn't make the bids, so eBay cancelled the transactions (Great, thanks a lot, eBay!). He is still bidding and selling on eBay, so you may want to exercise caution if he bids on your material. This closed at $273.98 then. Anyway, I am relisting it. ******** Illustrated at 150%. XF+ condition and scarce. NO RESERVE !!! Buyer pays $3.00 for insured postage. I will combine postage on multiple orders. PAY PAL, check or money order, please. Thanks. George B. Harris, P.O.
