For auction, a lot of World War One naval aviator aviation documents of Ensign Albert William Dorgan, who served as a naval aviator in WWI patrolling and scouting for German U-boats around the Panama Canal. I do not believe he ever was deployed to Europe and was trained as an officer for aerial observation around the Panama Canal Zone. The forms are in excellent condition, no tears, stains, insect damage, soil, foxing, or any mentionable flaws for a 90 year old set of documents. T is some wear to the leather wallet certificate and the original celluloid covers have turned yellowish and detached from the leather but still intact, VERY RARE TO FIND 1918 NAVAL AVIATOR CERTIFICATES IN ANY CONDITION . These documents are in an overall excellen state of preservation, THIS LOT INCLUDES HIS PHOTO PANAMA TRANSFER ORDER JANUARY 1919. This lot contains two sets of forms, the pocket-size wallet style certificate leatherbound with gold embossed emblem of the Department of the Navy - Bureau of Navigation. States as follows: DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY, NAVAL AVIATOR NO. 164. THIS CERTIFIES THAT Albert W. Dorgan, Ensign, U.S.N.R.F., born 4 day of June 1887, having fulfilled the conditions prescribed by the United States Navy Department, is by appointed a NAVAL AVIATOR Dated November 15, 1918.
