Very Nice Original WWI US Army M1907 Russet Leather Sling for the Model 1903 Springfield, Model 1917 Enfield, and, of course, Continued to be Issued in Early WWII for the M1 Garand Rifle. The leather has developed a rich russet patina and the brass metal parts also show patina mixed with original finish. The sling shows the expected minor flex marks and surface cracks, but the leather remains strong, solid, and supple. The brass fittings exhibit the expected minor verdigris deposits and still retain generous amounts of the original gray finish. Both keepers are original sewn keepers, but are extremely tight and could use a bit of stretching to ease adjustment. The contractor's marks, "W.H.CO." and "H.T." inspector mark are visible on the lower sling section and "H.T." inspector is on the upper section. No date is visible. This sling has been treated with Pecard's and is far better than most that are encountered and remains very attractive, reasonably strong, supple, and certainly usable within reason ( it is nearly 100 years old.). These slings have become very difficult to find in decent condition since the CMP release of the remaining stocks of Model 1903 rifles. Very nice, very attractive, original sling, ready to put on your vintage rifle. NO RESERVE. Ohio buyers add 6.5% sales tax. Buyer pays insurance if desired. Add $5.50 read more
