's an original issue WW I U.S. Army helmet issued to a doughboy who served in what I believe may have been the 40th Division (old 19)...nicknamed the Sunshine Division... 145th Artillery ....Formed out of western states National Guard units including Utah w this was found...They trained at Camp Kearny(1917) near San Diego and were shipped to France w they were stationed at Revigny and St. Dizier...returned in 1919...The helmet has the sand finish and features a hand-drawn unit insignia...Shell is in good shape..though it is missing the interior liner and netting....Just some of the padding remains...(pictured)...Stamped on interior lid...199 7D...Measures 12.25"...An authentic piece from the Great War...
