Medal Entitlement:DCM, 1914 Trio, Clasp & Roses. MID (L/Gaz: 17.6.18). DCM: L/Gaz 3.9.18. For gallantry at Vrely (Amiens Sector) 27.3.18. (March Offensive) serving with: ‘A’ B Y 106 BDE RFA.CITATION:47131 S JT H Stubbley RFA (Batley) “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty (at Vrely on 27.3.18). A section of his battery having suffered severe casualties, with two other men, he got all the wounded to safety although under heavy shell fire at the time. He then helped get both guns away and was personally responsible for bringing a damaged wagon off the position. Later, when the teams came under heavy shell fire, it was principally through his efforts that guns, wagons and wounded were got away safely”. (March Offensive DCM).
