US WWI WW1 POSTER HOME FRONT PROPAGANDA Navy ship The2FunAdGuyzoffer a great new, high quality reproduction, print of a of a tremendous World War I Navy ship poster by Joseph James Coll. America had not easily entered World War I and posters such as this sought to soothe the nerves of Americans. However, once we had entered, we came vigorously, as illustrated by this poster. The title reads: THE TIDAL WAVE . A dramatic wave of ships is shown being led by an American eagle. Behind the ships a second tidal wave of infantry, cavalry, guns and airplanes are shown heading to Europe aboard the ships. The caption reads: July 4, 1918. 95 Ships Launched. United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation. Coll, the last name of the artist, is printed on the bottom right of the drawing, just below the ships. The original lithograph, on which this print is based, was done in 1918. Joseph Clement Coll (1881-1921) did this poster just a few years before his death. He was a well-known illustrator for a variety of periodicals of the era. This print is on a high-quality 100# glossy text paper. The actual image measures 10.5 inches (w) X 16.5 inches (h).
