WWII American Military Mission to Moscow Bullion Patch Offered for your consideration is a circa WWII American (US) Military Mission Moscow Bullion Patch on wool. The patch is has one moth hole above the Cyrillic lettering and some needle holes around the periphery w it had been sewn on an old "patch jacket" by the wife of the servicemember. T is some mild tarnishing of the bullion and a small bit of bullion is missing at the upper left along the border between red and blue wool. The backing is like a coarse linen or sailcloth. The patch measures 4" by 3 1/2" at its greatest width. The officer to whom the patch belonged was a Russian-American and served as a translator towards the end of WWII. The family related that the Russians were not too friendly and that when the American visited his old Russian hometown, the Russian civilians with whom he visited were "relocated" by authorities, not to be heard from again. After that, he was careful not to visit with Russian civilians. Please feel free to send any questions or comments you may have. Please see my other items ! Thanks.
