WWII GERMAN BOX OF 12 PENCILS SCHWAN OTHELLO – FORTUNA RARE DESCRIPTION: Offered to you is this WWII original German box of 12 never used pencils made by the Schwan pencil company. Comes with original cardboard box and matching tin box as well. An interesting fact about these is the txt written on the back of the cardboard box. It reads: “These Fortuna pencils are delivered as replacements of the previous Othello brand. The quality is the same, just the name has been changed due to objective reasons”. Since Germany and Great Britain were at war at the time, the name Othello was no longer desirable and was associated with British culture. These pencils were delivered from Germany to the Royal Army of Kingdom Bulgaria, a key German ally during the war. Therefore, the abovementioned text on the back is in Bulgarian.
