This is an exceptional collection of 145 original World War II black & white photographs presented in a German âeoeKRIEGSERINNERUNGENâe (WAR MEMORIES) photo album. Note the raised German helmet on the cover. These photos document the journey of one German soldier (maybe Oberst Fldm Wahl?) from the R.A.D. training camp âeoeLager 8/209 Seelbach bei Siegenâe (1938 or 1939), to a train ride to the docks at Swinnemunde, then aboard the German ship âeoeLevanteâe to Holland (tâe(tm)s a couple pics of windmills), then to âeoeMISSION BELGE EVANGELIQUEâe Belgium, then on to France near Viheauxe & Dijon. The album measures 12 3/8 inches by almost nine inches and contains 14 pages of photographs. The album is in very nice shape. It contains more photos of aircraft, both German and shot down Allie, more photos of tanks and arms, the remains of what looks like a strafing, blown bridges, columns on the march, prisoners of war. All of the photos are in very nice shape, better than they appear in my digital cameraâe(tm)s rendition. Most if the photos are glued in the album, some are held by corner taps, some are loose. About the first four pages have handwritten captions under the photos, but after the boat ride to the front, the captions disappear. An extremely nice collection, from one German Soldier, in the official Kriegserinnerungen album. read more
