ATTENTION EBAY ! THIS IS A PIECE OF WOOD, LEGAL IN ALL 50 STATES, INCLUDING CALIFORNIA !!! Up for auction is a very nice WWII Type III, Low Wood M1 Carbine Stock set, marked "HI" for INLAND in both the slingwell, and on the underside of the Type III Handguard. T is a very nice Cartouche present, as well as a "P" proof mark on the pistol grip area. Included is an original barrel band retaining spring, and a WWII "Late" Winchester Buttplate & screw. I stripped this stock and then soaked it in water for 12 hours. I then steamed out most of the scratches and dings by hand. I had to fill one gouge on the Cartouche side of the stock, it is filled with superglue and walnut filings.T was also a very light surface crack behind the recoil plate that I filled with superglue. I then applied three coats of Tung Oil, with 24 hours drying time between each coat. After each coat I hand polished the wood with "OOOO" steel wool. I then soaked the entire stock in Boiled Lindseed Oil for 30 minutes, and allowed it to "drip-dry" for 24 hours. I then handrubbed the stock, first with a cotton towell, and finally with a T-shirt. This is not a junk stock that someone applied 10 coats of Pledge Furniture Polish to, too make it look good on your puter screen. This stock was rejuvenated with the original materials & processes that were used 60+ years ago read more
