This is a set of eye shields or eye protectors for a set of WWII Japanese Big Eye Naval Binoculars. This set is not the ones on the binoculars seen in the photos, the photos are only for reference. This set was an extra set that was in the box with the binoculars in the photo. When the set of binoculars were sold a couple of years ago somehow the extra set of eye shields were not included and were forgotten about until the owner recently came across them. I see sets of these big eye binoculars being sold and the eye shield always seem to be severely worn out or damaged or even missing completely. So I figured someone out there in ebay land could use an original set of them. The set has No 2 and a maker mark under it on the side of each one and I believe they are made of rubber. As far as condition is concerned they are used and I honestly have no idea how soft or pliable the shields are suppose to be. With that said they feel hard but they are not all cracked or damaged and other than some wear and some stains where the the face would rub they are in pretty decent shape for being sixty-nine years old, the binoculars were dated 1944. One hole also looks slightly rounder than the other one so I am not sure how they would fit. With that said if you need a set of these I am sure they are not the easiest items to find out there.
