This barrel is stamped 3 SA 4 45 indicating it was made by Springfield Armory in April 1945. It retains its original finish as the breech is still in the white and the pads around the splines are natural finish, not plated - another sign the finish is original. Finish is about 80% w hidden by the stock and 20% w exposed at the gas cylinder. The bore is bright, is in good condition and very serviceable. Throat Erosion measures right at 3 and Muzzle Wear is 4 (gauge is not marked; last ring exposed is 8; count backward to 4 which is just clear of the muzzle), well within service specs. The bore and muzzle are in good condition, show honest wear but no abuse and still have lots of life left. The crown at the muzzle is very good and free of dings or dents. All threads and the splines are in great shape. The barrel is in better than average condition, is a serious consideration for a WWII restoration and will go right on your receiver.
