WWII US Army/USMC M1905E1 Bayonet - Bowie Tip Marked SA US 1906 w/Flaming Bomb w/Scabbard - Excellent Condition For your consideration is a WWII US M1905E1 Bayonet. This is a modified M1905 Bayonet that was shortened to the length of the new M1 Bayonet prior to the end of WWII. This bayonet is marked U.C. /for UTICA CUTLERY/ w/Flaming Bomb. The Bayonet is in Excellent Condition with no rust, parkerized and black plastic grips. The bayonet has a 10" blade with an overall length of 14 1/2". The fuller is round. Doesnt look like it was sharpened, there no chips or scratches on the blade. The grips are in great condition. and locking mechanism functions fine. The scabbard is an M1 Scabbard that has the US logo inside the Ordnance Bomb. The scabbard is in Good Condition, no cracks or damage. WHAT MAKES THIS BAYONET SOMEWHAT UNUSUAL IS THE FACT THAT THE POINT /which is sharp btw, not dulled out like many/ WAS CUT ON BOTH SIDES DURING SHORTENING PROCESS, NOT AT AN ANGLE. In late 1942, it was deceided to cut 6" from the Existing Bayonets thus making a 10" blade. More information could be obtained from this wonderful websight: /bayo_points_23.htm This bayonet will fit the M1903/A3 Springfield Rifles and the M1 Garand Rifle. Estate sale.
