The Patch: This auction is for One WWII Vintage I Corps patch with an OD Border and a green back. This patch is in good condition. It has a very nice green backing. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. Greenback I Corps patches are very desirable and are hard to find. Don't lose out on your opportunity to own this great piece of World War II history. The History: The I Corps was on active duty in South Carolina when World War II began. It departed for the Pacific Theater on September 24th, 1942. The Corps first combat came on New Guinea when it worked with the New Guinea force to drive the Japanese out of Papua. I Corps participated as part of the Reckless Task Force landings on the northern coast of New Guinea in April of 1944 with the mission of capturing Hollandia. It next landed in the Lingayen Gulf area of Luzon and fought with the Sixth Army. They captured San Jose after heavy fighting in February of 1945. They fought across Luzon and were there fighting until the end of World War II. After the war, I Corps occupied the southern part of Honshu and Kyushu islands in the Japanese homeland.
