The Patch: This auction is for One WWII Vintage VIII Corps patch with a green back. This patch has been used and is in good condition. It has a very nice green backing. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. Greenback VIII Corps patches are very desirable and are hard to find. Don't lose out on your opportunity to own this great piece of World War II history. The History: the VIII Corps was sent to the European Theater in December, 1943. They were sent to the Cotentin Peninsula on June 14, 1944 and took up defensive positions there. In July the Corps took part in Operation Cobra where it made major breakthroughs. The Corps was beaten up in Battles in Eastern France and was shifted to the Ardennes region. The German attack in December 1944 struck the heart of their lines. Though outnumbered, VIII Corps personnel fought hard and slowed the German advance. They suffered an enormous amount of casualties in the process of blunting the German advance. After the Bulge, the Corps attacked into Germany and captured the Schnee Eifel. They pushed across Germany until they came into contact with Russian patrols on May 6th.
