Up for auction is a rare RAC tankers helmet in lightly used condition. These were designated Helmet, Crash, Royal Armoured Corps, 1940 and made of boiled cardboard similar to miner’s helmets of the time. It is marked with the British broad arrow surrounded with the letters WD and the number 461.The manufacturer is Helmets Ltd from Wheathampstead England and dated 1940. The Communications attachment is made by VERO and also dated 1940. The elastic is torn on the left ear flap (visible in the fourth picture). The helmet is size marked 6 7/8. This is probably why it is in such excellent condition. This is great example of a seldom seen helmet in the States. I have 100% positive feedback so and please check out my other auctions for WWII commonwealth items.Good Luck & !
