WWII Rescued Gothic Fragment GUILDHALL City of LONDON Scroll down for more photos.This is part of a gothic style chandelier from the Guildhall in the City of London that was brought down by German bombs on the night of December 29, 1940. Guildhall is a building in the City of London that functioned for centuries as the town hall, and remains to this day the ceremonial and administrative center of the City. The fragment looks like it is lead with gold leaf or gold paint. The frame measures 8.25" by 6.25" and 1" thick. It has a stand on the back so that it can stand freely on any flat surface, and it has two metal rings so that it can be hung.
