This is a quite scarce Nagoya Arsenal production Type 95 (1935) WWII Japanese NCO sword. The sword is matching numbered to the scabbard and the blade is bright and clean with sharp cutting edge that has just a few light dings that are very minor. This is a scarce side latch sword as produced only by Nagoya toward the end of their contract. The sword is painted black and I believe that is original to it as it has no trace of green or khaki paint under the black on the scabbard. The black painted hilt and tusba are proper and original and match the color of the scabbard. The blade has the proper Nagoya NA inspection stamp as well as having the same mark on the fuchi above and between the Nagoya mark and the other maker stamp. Along with being a RARE side latch Nagoya sword, the scabbard even has the distinctive Nagoya style of drag shoe on the bottom of the sheath. This is a very nice condition and quite scarce Model 95 NCO sword and matches the one shown on page 88 of "Japanese Military and Civil Swords and Daggers" by Richard Fuller and Ron Gregory and is in fact very close in serial numbers as that sword shown. This is is a veteran bring back sword and has not been collector toyed with and is in original as found condition. You will not see many of these side latch Nagoya made swords out there for sale today and this one is better read more
