WWII U.S. Navy Occupation Service Military Medal w/Box This is a full size U.S. Navy Occupation Service Military Medal. It is in excellent condition in the box it was presented in. The box is a little worn and the box bottom may be another box top. At the close of WWII hostilities it was necessary to station troops in the occupied territories for a number of years, and both the Army and Navy issued medals for personnel serving in the occupied zones. Service in Europe dates from May 9, 1945, and in Asia from September 3, 1945. The occupied territories were: Austria, Germany, Italy, Berlin and Japan. The Navy Occupation medal was authorized on January 22, 1947 for the award to members of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard for thirty consecutive days service in occupation zones after WWII. I will be auctioning items my Mother was going to put in an antique mall that she ran for years. I wont pretend to know what some of these items are, but I will try to describe them as best I can. Please look at the pictures. I have not tried to clean these item in any way.
