6TH ENGINEER BATTALION FLAG U.S. W/FRINGE (INDOORS) I purchased this Sixth Engineer U.S. Army Flag in July, 1984 at an estate sale in Fleetwood, PA along with other military items Uniforms, Patches and Insignia. It has been in a footlocker from then until just recently. It is in good shape but has a couple of small pin holes and what looks like a small white paint smudge on one side "See Photo", both leather end tabs on the sleeve are in excellent shape. Flag measures 4' X 6'. I found the following information on the inside of the sleeve. Inspected by 9-10-4 F0672 Phila. Quartermaster Depot With the Flag was a 3 x 5 card that had the following info: Sixth Engineer Battalion MOTTO: Clairs Chenes N'Oubliez Jamais (The Cleared Oaks - Never Forget Them) I believe the flag to be from the 1940 - 1950's based on the uniforms and patches purchased at the estate sale, also the LT General Flag that I sold earlier was dated 1953. PAYPAL ONLY! Contact expected to be made within three days of the actions end. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO HONOR YOUR BID. THANKS *I just received the following history on the Sixth Engineer Battalion. Constituted in the Regular Army as 1st Battalion, 6th Engineers (Sapper Regiment) and organized 15 May, 1917 at Washington Barracks, District of Columbia with cadre from Companies C and D, 1st read more
