WWII Vintage 1943 Parade Flag Assistant Secretary of Navy Mare Island ~~~ Awe-inspiring Yacht Decor Significant WWII Naval Memorabilia World War II vintage Assistant Secretary of the Navy Parade flag. Mare Island, October 1943. Cream wool flag with navy blue appliqued stars and naval insignia anchor. Application on both front and back. Approximately 57" X 75". T is some moderate moth damage and discolorations. Being sold "as is". NO RESERVE! Historical details: Ralph A. Bard, Assistant Secretary of the Navy 7 December 1941 -- 19 May 1944. Mare Island, Vallejo, California was Uncle Sam's principal seat of Pacific Coast defense. It was the West's first and greatest U.S. Navy Yard, laying the task of maintaining the Pacific fleet at topmost efficiency, with the additional job of building new warships as the American defense program increased. Mare Island, Vallejo, Navy Yard was the largest single industrial plant west of the Mississippi. Please email with any questions. All sales are final.
