WW II/WW II Fighting Knife Made by Vocational School Fond du Lac, WIGood Condition! You are bidding on a WW II Fighting Knife made by the Fond Du Lac Vocational School that was located in Fond du Lac, WI. School like this made many knives for american Soldiers during WW II. The name of maker or GI, Robert L. Race, is marked on the blade. The blade of this knife is 9 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1/8 think. Knife has a wooden handle that is brass riveted to the tang and an iron cross guard that is curved with a length of 3 inches and 1 inch wide. The scabbard which is tin lined leather is marked Becker, for the maker. These knives were part of the vocational schools effort to help get fighting knives into the hands of soldiers. T is a display of these knives at the Fond du Lac Wisconsin Historical Society. These knives extremely well made they were formidable knives, well balanced and robust are getting hard to find today. Overall this knife is in very good shape, the scabbard stitching and rivets are intact and the knife itself is solid. The only detraction is the edge of the blade that has taken a little beating. It could be worked out and dressed up, but I did not want to do anything to it, the new owner can. This is a rare example of a knife made and signed by a vocational school during WWII.........so bid accordingly!! We will read more
