This antique, vintage 37 inch Mid Iron was forged with a lined face lofted 26 degrees. The back is stamped Hand (hand) Forged, Mid Iron, 3 with small L in a circle and Ernest Smith between the Burke Co. Hand With Scales and Large Thistle cleek marks. There is a beautiful, strong, straight shaft with original Playable 13 inch dark brown wrapped leather grip. I find a listing for E. E. Smith at Vestal Hills, Binghampton, NY in late 1920s wintering at C.C ., Palm Beach, F. Extra nice marks and very suitable for Play with No Reserve! “Playable” means the club has a secure head, straight oiled shaft and repaired or replaced grip where necessary.
