Castlemaine Perkins XXXX Brisbane Australia Barrel # 3767 For sale I have this genuine Fourex Wooden Beer Barrel or KEG from a bygone era. The barrel is complete with its original metal tap. The barrel is 44.5 cm (17 ½in) high and weighs 18.5kg. approximately. ( I had to use my bathroom scales on which I can't rely for accuracy.). The tap weighs 510gr. and is 140mm high and 165mm long. It has a number incised in the metal. This is the type of Brewery Beer Barrel used in the Horse & Cart era. This barrel is made of very thick timber not like today's wine barrel. This is a very heavy and strong beer barrel, ready for anything you may throw at it. It has the number 3767 printed on the red end and incised in the timber on the tap end. If you wish to add any information on this barrel and its history, I will post your comments on this site. I would love to know more about the barrel and its history. Perhaps the serial number can determine its age? I always mention everything I see on the item for sale as I want to give you an absolutely accurate description. This barrel has not been repaired . It is a genuine original. It has an original tap in working order. Even the inner cork lining is still t - see photos. It is missing the filling stopper. I can't see any problem. The metal rings are in place, the timber is in original condition for a used barrel, t is no borer or unusual damage. This barrel is in very good condition for age. I have taken many photos to help you see the barrel and the tap exactly as they are. I also always pay to let you enlarge the photos as this can help. The photos of the barrel have been taken without flash. Some of the photos of the tap are with flash assistance as this seems to help with the definition of metal objects. The photos are unretouched to allow you to see the exact conditions of the piece. Each sides of the barrel and tap have been photographed. Thank you for your interest. CONCLUSION. Finding a XXXX Castlemaine Perkins early WOODEN BARREL in good condition is rare these days and will not get easier. Finding one with its tap is even better.
