Please note that Yannis Yallourakis, the author of this oil painting, is also known as Yannice Yallourakis.Yannis Yallourakis is the Greek, Canadian & American author of this surreal still life oil painting. Done in 1968, almost 50 years ago, her deft brushwork and masterfully juxtaposed combinations of hot & cool colors gives the painting a great sense of mood and atmosphere! Arguably, this is her best painting to come up for public sale by her within the past 30 years!Yallourakis painted in British Columbia and Montreal during the 1950's & 1960's. In the 1970's, she moved to California and worked in the Laguna Beach area. She is listed in both- the University of British Columbia and Montreal Museum of Arts collections.Yallourakis's paintings are very rare, as collectors don't seem to be too anxious to be giving up their paintings by her! I believe one of the reasons why collectors like her paintings so much is because she often incorporated an op art illusion into her compositions. In this painting, the white area between the brown painted border surrounding the image and the frame is not the frame's liner... it was all hand-painted by Yallourakis!ITEM DESCRIPTION:This oil on canvas measures 25-¼" by 19-¼", with its' frame. The actual painting measures 24" by 18" and is signed by Yallourakis, on the upper right. Yallourakis also signed, dated (1968) and wrote "Montreal", on the back of the canvasThe painting is in good, overall condition. As a part of Yallourakis's, technique, she did not paint every speck on the canvas. The unpainted specks should not be mistaken for damage.The frame has a few minor nicks/scratches. Overall, the frame is in good, overall condition.When examining the painting under an ultraviolet light, I did find evidence of a couple tiny specks of inpainting, which only account for 1%-2% of the painting's total surface area.
