Pre-1900 ANTIQUE JAFF KURD BAG FACE, NW Persian tribal, last quarter of the 19th century, and coming in fair condition for the collector. The exact size is: 27" x 30" (69 x 76 cm). What is really unusual about this common design type for Jaff Kurd bag faces is the aubergine eggplant-purple ground color used for the main border surround. I have not see this color used before in on of these Khorjin fronts. All wool in construction with all natural dyes derived from plant sources, including the madder-orange. The brown and black dye lots are oxidized in places. Typical for bags with this field element, the lattice design was executed in a warp-sharing offset knotting technique. A bit beat up, but still a beauty with a rarely seen aubergine purple ground color for the main border that is set off nicely by the two ivory guard borders.
