Hand Made Mezuzah Case, Sterling Silver in Yemenite Filigree Design Brand New, made In Jerusalem, Israel Magnificent mezuzah case, made by skilled silversmiths from a small workshop in Jerusalem. This Mezuza is made of 925 sterling silver, designed in the old Jewish yemenite filigree / lacework tradition (see description below), adorned with delicate and intricate ornaments from interlaced silver wires. In the center is the hebrew letter SHIN , that stands for : Shomer Daltot Israel - keeper of the doors of Israel. Brand new and never been used. Size (H) : 5.1 inch / 13 cm For Parchment Size (H) : 2.7 inch / 7 cm Parchment not included ! * The Jewish Yemenite Filigree Art was developed by Jewish silver and gold smiths in ancient Yemen, and is related to Judaism and Judaica, being used particulary for religious holy occasions like marriage, engagemaent and more. This technique was commonly practiced in Yemen and in the art school BEZALEL located in Jerusalem - Israel (established in 1906). Today very few craftsmen are practicing this wonderful skill, most of them passed away or moved to practice a more modern line of work, tfore real handmade filigree items are fairly hard to find.
