An original oil on board abstract landscape by well listed artist Yohanan Simon (European, 1905-1976), dated 1965. The German born artist was well traveled, studying in Paris, South Africa and finally settling in Israel, and was recognized for his social realist and abstract style. Simon received his formal education at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich and École des Beaux-Arts, Paris and studied under the well praised German artist Max Beckmann's studio. His work is a part of the permanent collection of the Israel Museum and twice exhibited at the Venice Biennale. The impasto abstract landscape features various types of colorful trees aligned on a beige background. This is signed and dated to the bottom and presented in a linen and gold gilt beaded wood frame. The piece is labelled behind, what appears to be, "Feuis Tién".The paper backing has been cut open in order to catalog and photograph.There are chips to the frame.The Painting measures 8.85" W and 6.5" H11.5" W x 9.0" H x 0.75" D for the frame.No international shipping.
