This battery pack uses only nine D cells to operate all tube model Trans-Oceanics. This includes the 7G605, 8G005, H500, G500, and the complete 600 series including the A600, B600, L600, R600, T600, and Y600. In addition it will operate the companion models 5G500R, 5G505, 5G601, 6G001, 6G004, 6G501, 6G505, 6G601, and 6G605. Other brands it will also operate include the Hallicrafters TW-1000 and TW-2000 and the RCA Stratoworld 3BX672.Both A and B voltages are short circuit protected and voltage regulated. The "A" filament voltage will never rise above the recommended maximum of 8.5 volts. Unlike other standard battery packs the output voltages of this pack will not drift as the batteries age. The voltages will remain within 3% until the cells are completely exhausted.Battery life is about 70 hours use, almost twice as long as ten 9 volt batteries. It can be resupplied with batteries for less than $8.00. Also, since only only nine D cells are needed, RECHARGEABLE D cells may be used which will make the operating cost even lower.
