ZIPPO 1943-45 CBI HUMP PILOTS LIGHTER SILVER BURMAThis lighter has a story that seems accurate. It is a WWII Verterans item. The vet was reported to be a Pilot who flew the Hump in WWII. It seems that this may be true based on the engraved design. Lets assume it is just a really nice old ZIPPO 7 Hole 1943-1945 insert in a Case Marked SILVER that may have been made in India. I have checked the ZIPPO books I could find, and see no reference to ZIPPO making a SILVER Case like this. If any one knows differently please let me know. I think India only because China is not mentioned on the map. Having said this it still seems the case looks more factory made than a cobbled silver smiths item. The case is sharp and very square. The top and the bottom are bowed out like a coffin lid. Demensions are 2&3/16th Tall by 1&9/16th Inch Wide and 7/16 inch thick. The term SILVER may denote less than STERLING Content. It is in English so its possible the case may be from England or worked up in India w the English presence was strong. The lighter snaps shut with a Zippo click and is very solid. I cleaned it up a little and the black flecs are tarnish that I did not polish off. The insert has a 2032695 Pat number. It has a typical 4 barrel hinge like a 1943 - 45 Zippo. A great collectable for a military collector or a serious Zippo Collector. NOTE for read more
