Unless otherwise specified all the items I sell are from estate sales or house cleanouts. Description: Zolotas 22K Cabochon Emerald Ring in Ancient Style When I purchased this ring I was truly amazed with it!!! Not only is it very heavy at 17.3 grams it is 22K (marked 22C as well as 917 which is European for 22K) and is made by one of the most important Greek designers, Zolotas . Zolotas, one of the best known Greek Jewelers, was founded in 1890 in Athens. They are well known for their creations reminiscent of Ancient Greek designs, usually in 18K but sometimes done in 22K. The ring features granulation-which is putting timy beads of gold individually onto a piece and cabochon emeralds, As seen in pictures some of the emeralds have little chips in them. They can be replaced but they are securely in ring. I believe it adds to the ancient appeal. The face of the ring measures 1 inch diameter. The largest emerald measures 5mm, and the others which have the most wear measure 3mm. The sides of the ring feature more granulation and the shank tapers from 1/2 " to 1/4 ". The ring is a size 6 and I do not recommend sizing it unless you have a jeweler who can replicate the design.
