The Handmaiden of Westminster, VT is pleased to offer ten vintage rice grain blue and white sauce/dipping bowls with gold trim and red. These sauce bowls measure 4" in diameter and stand only 1 & 1/4" high. Each has the five toed Imperial Dragon design and each is marked with Chinese characters and the words "Made in China" on the back. These bowls are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, fleabites, or crazing. The colors are bold and the gold is in very good shape. Rice Grain china is translucent. It is traditionally made with grains of rice, which are destroyed in the firing process, and then the teeny holes are covered with glaze. These particular rice grain bowls are more difficult to find because they also have symbols and characters in red.
